Turkish Prayer Rug, Gebetsteppich , Gebetsmatte, Janamaz, Sajadah, Prayer Mat

This Turkish prayer rug features a sophisticated traditional design centered around a large multi-pointed medallion, stylized cloud motifs, corner compositions, and an intricate floral border. The deep charcoal, anthracite, and gray tones are complemented by silver-gray, cream, orange, and terracotta details, creating a refined and distinctive appearance.

The combination of geometric structure, floral ornamentation, and traditional Islamic decorative elements gives this prayer mat a balanced and elegant character, making it suitable for daily salah as well as a meaningful Islamic gift.

COLOR & DESIGN DETAILS

• Charcoal, Anthracite & Gray: The deep gray tones create a calm, understated, and dignified foundation. Their restrained appearance gives the prayer rug a sophisticated character and helps the decorative details stand out.

• Silver-Gray & Cream Transitions: The lighter shades surrounding the central medallion create contrast against the darker background. They add depth and give the composition a subtle feeling of light emerging from the darker tones.

• Orange & Terracotta Accents: Small touches of orange and terracotta appear in the central floral details and selected border elements. These warm tones add vitality, warmth, and visual balance without overpowering the overall design.

MOTIF & DESIGN DETAILS

• Central Multi-Pointed Medallion (Shamsa-Inspired): The large radial medallion at the center forms the main focal point of the design. Its layered geometric and floral structure is inspired by the shamsa forms found in traditional Islamic and Ottoman decorative arts.

• Stylized Cloud Motifs (Chinese Cloud / Ebru-Inspired): Curved ribbon-like details around the points of the medallion and along the corner areas resemble traditional stylized cloud motifs. These flowing forms add movement and softness to the otherwise structured geometric composition.

• Corner Compositions (Leçek): The four cream and light-colored corner sections curve inward toward the central field, creating a traditional corner arrangement that complements and frames the central medallion.

• Hatayi & Palmette Border: The outer border features delicate repeating floral and leaf motifs inspired by traditional Hatayi and palmette ornamentation. The continuous repetition creates rhythm and emphasizes the handcrafted character of classical decorative patterns.
