Persian Inspired Prayer Rug, Emerald Green Floral Medallion with Shah Abbasi

Bring the refined beauty of classical Persian-inspired textile art into your prayer space with this richly detailed emerald green prayer rug. The design is centered around a grand multi-layered Şemse medallion, surrounded by flowing Arabesque floral scrollwork, Shah Abbasi palmettes, symmetrical corner spandrels, and an elaborate multi-border composition.

The vibrant emerald green field creates a deep and elegant foundation, while bright peach and coral orange bring warmth to the central medallion, outer borders, and corner panels. Royal blue adds striking contrast to the medallion center, while muted lavender and plum provide layered botanical depth. Cream and off-white details define the delicate floral contours and scrolling vines. Medium gray woven end borders and functional tassels complete the design.

COLOR PALETTE

• Vibrant Emerald Green – Dominant central field and outer fabric boundary
• Bright Peach / Coral Orange – Central medallion, outer borders, and corner spandrels
• Royal Blue – Central medallion core and architectural-style framing details
• Muted Lavender / Plum – Medallion layers and floral background accents
• Cream / Off-White – Fine Arabesque vines, floral contours, and framing details
• Medium Gray – Woven end borders and functional tassels

TRADITIONAL MOTIFS

• Grand Central Medallion (Şemse) – The large layered ogee-shaped medallion forms the focal point of the design. In traditional decorative interpretations, medallion compositions can be associated with radiant light, unity, balance, and cosmic order.

• Quarter-Medallion Corners (Spandrels) – Symmetrical curved corner panels frame the central field and create a balanced composition inspired by classical Persian and court-style textile designs. Their specific symbolic meaning is not universally established.

• Arabesque Floral Scrollwork – Continuous vines, split-leaf Rumi details, stylized leaves, and blooming botanical forms fill the field with rhythmic ornamental movement. Arabesque decoration is traditionally associated with the continuity and harmony of natural forms.

• Shah Abbasi Palmettes – Large stylized floral blossoms connected by flowing vines create the characteristic botanical border. Shah Abbasi floral ornament is widely associated with classical Persian and Ottoman decorative traditions and imagery of abundance and garden beauty.
