CREAM TERRACOTTA TREE OF LIFE MIHRAB PRAYER MAT
This elegant prayer mat features a detailed Ottoman-inspired architectural composition centered around a magnificent Tree of Life beneath a multi-lobed Mihrab arch. A warm Cream / Off-White inner field contrasts beautifully with a Muted Terracotta / Rust outer border, while Deep Wine Burgundy, Sage Green, Coral Pink, and Slate Blue / Teal accents bring the botanical and architectural details to life.
The design combines a traditional prayer niche, flowering Tree of Life, hanging lamp, Ewer (İbrik) motifs, floral details, and architectural panels into a richly balanced composition.
COLOR PALETTE
Cream / Off-White forms the main background of the central prayer field, creating a light and calm foundation for the botanical design.
Muted Terracotta / Rust dominates the wide outer decorative border and adds warmth to the overall composition.
Deep Wine Burgundy defines the arabesque lines, Mihrab outlines, architectural details, and delicate leaf systems.
Sage Green appears throughout the natural leaves and stems of the central Tree of Life.
Coral Pink highlights the central blossoms and floral details in the lower architectural panels.
Slate Blue / Teal adds contrast to the lower corner panels and selected elements of the inner borders.
Medium Gray is used for the woven end-borders and functional hanging tassels at the top and bottom edges.
MOTIFS & TRADITIONAL MEANINGS
Mihrab:
The central multi-lobed Mihrab features a pointed dome-like apex and creates an architectural frame around the flowering Tree of Life. The Mihrab traditionally represents the prayer niche and is associated with the direction of prayer and the Qibla.
Tree of Life / Flowering Shrub:
A symmetrical botanical tree rises through the central Cream field from a central root, developing into branches, leaves, and numerous blossoms. Tree of Life imagery in traditional decorative arts is commonly associated with growth, continuity, the connection between earth and heaven, and the idea of enduring life.
Hanging Lamp / Chandelier Candelabra:
An ornate hanging lamp is suspended from the apex of the central arch directly above the Tree of Life. Lamp imagery is traditionally associated with light, guidance, and spiritual illumination.
Ewer / Aftaba / İbrik:
Two symmetrical ewer motifs appear within the upper areas of the Mihrab composition. Ewers are traditionally connected with water, ritual cleanliness, and ablution (wudu) before prayer.
Lower Architectural Panels:
A series of miniature arched panels appears beneath the central field, incorporating alternating red, blue, and cream floral arrangements. Their specific traditional interpretation is uncertain, but they contribute an architectural rhythm to the lower section of the design.
Ornate Floral Border:
The wide outer border contains densely arranged rosettes and interconnected botanical vines over a Terracotta base. Floral borders traditionally evoke ideas of continuity, natural beauty, and garden imagery.
DESIGN & OVERALL COMPOSITION
The central Tree of Life creates the primary visual focus, rising beneath the ornate Mihrab arch and hanging lamp. Its symmetrical branches, leaves, and blossoms create a strong vertical composition.
The Ewer motifs add traditional decorative balance to the upper section, while the miniature architectural panels create a structured transition beneath the central field.
The wide Terracotta floral border surrounds the entire composition and is defined by detailed Burgundy lines and botanical ornament. Cream, Sage Green, Coral Pink, and Slate Blue / Teal accents provide contrast while maintaining a cohesive traditional palette.
